Mandi is an extraordinary Collie in countless ways. She is brilliant, eager to please, and she loves Highland Games and bagpipe music! Mandi’s proud owner, Arlene Starkey, suspects that Mandi’s affection for pipe music is because her breeder, Dr. Sharon Vanderlip, plays the pipes and the music may remind Mandi of her early days at Rainshade Collies!

Mandi also loves challenges and she puts her heart into everything she does. Mandi is one of the few Collies to earn an AWCA Lure Coursing title as Novice Courser.

Mandi also has AWCA recognition for Public Relations because she stands at every Southwest Collie Rescue event and frequently helps her owns evaluate potential rescue adopters by participating in rescue adopter home visits. Mandi’s chief role in this is to child-test, adopter-test, and occasionally cat-test— from a collie point of view— a new home for a rescued collie. She also graciously accepts each new rescue collie into her home as Arlene might require.

She also likes to herd when her owner gets her to “the sheep.” Her herding instinct is intact, and is indeed one of her favorite activities.

Mandi is proof that Collies can do it all, and do it all very well, indeed!

Thank you Arlene Starkey for giving Mandi, and her lovely niece, Tess (Rainshade Tried and True), a loving and exciting home!

Arlene Starkey says: “I will never be able to thank you enough for these two great collies! I can’t imagine how I would live without each of these fine collies.”

Mandi is certified normal-eyed free of CEA.
